Blackheath Ward Assembly

The next  Blackheath Ward Assembly will be held on Monday 7thSeptember at Christ the King College, Belmont Grove, SE13 5GE starting at 7:30pm.

The main business of the day will be to decide how to allocate  the remaining £37,000 from the Community Fund.

The Assembly will consider five proposals for the Community Fund money.  These are improved facilities and opening times for Blackheath Library, English classes for those who speak other languages, improvements for the community centre at Lethbridge Close, a sailing course for young people and improvements to the playground in Baizdon Road.  Details should be on the Blackheath Assembly part of the Council’s website very shortly.

Once again we have invited representatives for South Eastern Trains to attend but so far there has been no response. We have also asked for a report from the Council concerning the Climate Camp which will have vacated the heath by the time we meet.

Pam Bacchus from the Council’s transport department will update us on the 20mph zone in the Village , she should also be in a position to give us some ideas about proposed traffic and parking improvements.

Climate Camp comes to Blackheath

Whilst fully endorsing the need to highlight concerns and raise awareness about climate change.I do hope that the climate camp organisers will protect the local environment as residents do have real concerns about the damage that may be caused to what is a precious open space.

Hopefully we  will not have  a repetition of some of the scenes witnessed at the G20 protest and that  the police  have learnt lessons  in order to keep this a peaceful and safe protest, allowing residents and visitors to go about their daily business without interference.

All parties concerned  are urged to keep local residents informed as much as possible.

Ramadhan

May I take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy and peaceful Ramadhan
